Program Officer-Advocacy and Communications Unit, Lahore
This position is responsible for effective internal and external communications to support Shirkat Gah’s advocacy for women’s rights. The role of Program Officer extends to all three offices across Pakistan and may require travel.
Role and Responsibilities
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the electronic, print and digital media in Pakistan and active networking with media related and other institutions such as courts.
Manage Media relations through an official annual media strategy.
Remain current on trends and developments in areas of human rights, governance and livelihoods to identify areas of advocacy
Liaison with program colleagues in Shirkat Gah to ensure advocacy reflects programming priorities and developments.
Manage Shirkat Gah website content and visuals
Coordinate , organize and participate in Shirkat Gah’s advocacy events
Prepare, obtain and disseminate communications products such as Press releases, appeals on women’s issues, Annual Reports, write ups for the website, mobile messages, website content, videos etc
Promote Shirkat Gah advocacy with the help of conventional and modern ICT tools to reach a broad community
Manage Shirkat Gah’s social media tools
Develop and oversee implementation of Shirkat Gah Communications Strategy (Internal and External)
Manage development of SG database
Support Director, Advocacy & Communications for SG advocacy efforts in all possible ways
Contribute to Shirkat Gah advocacy materials
Make SG presentations to various SG stakeholders
Develop and/or expand Shirkat Gah youth outreach
Qualifications
Masters in Communications, Journalism or another relevant discipline Advanced English writing skills Minimum 3 years experience in communications and media related work Well conversant with social media and ICT tools such as websites, videos, radio, TV, online appeals, social networking tools i.e. Facebook, twitter, blogs, SMS, Youtube etc To apply send your CV and Cover Letter to opportunities@sgah.org.pk
