Reproductive
Health and Reproductive Rights (RH & RR)

The Reproductive Health and
Reproductive Rights component of the WSD programme dates back to
the run up to International Conference on Population &
Development (ICPD) Cairo in 1994 and the Fourth World Conference
on Women (FWCW) Beijing in 1995, increasing over the years with
the support of international networks, NGOs and UN agencies:
International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), Asia Pacific
Research and Resource Centre for Women (ARROW), Women’s Global
Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), Columbia University,
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Italian NGO
‘AIDOS.
Initially being one of WSD’s
‘nested projects’ it has evolved into an independent
Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights Programme during the
years 2004-2005.
RH & RR
Specific Initiative

RH & RR programme aims to empower
women to decide and act for themselves, make choices, and create
options in Reproductive Health at all levels (household,
community and national) by strengthening SG's capacity for
providing relevant information, building capacity and expanding
support to CBOs, NGOs and community groups, especially women in
rural and peri-urban areas.
Specific
Objectives

-
To strengthen SG institutionally
by further development of its in-house training capacity in
participatory approaches, Reproductive Health (RH), gender and
advocacy.
-
To support an expanded capacity
building outreach programme with CBOs and NGOs.
